Atrio Restaurant and Wine Room
Atrio is an elegant restaurant located on the 25th floor of the Conrad Hotel with expectacular views.
When you arrive tell the valet that your going to Atrio, they will tell you to take the ticket and validated at the restaurant and it will be free. Just go in straight to the hotels elevators to the 25th floor. You will find the bar area which has siting outside. Is like a long balcony with two chair tables. It is a very tight space; like siting at a bar but outside. The view spectacular, they have been voted best view.
I had reservations and was sitted right away. I wanted a table with the window view but there are only 5 such tables and you cannot reserve them, is fist come first serve. If you really want one of these tables need to get there and be prepared to wait.
The service was very good but slow. It took over 4 hours for dinner, so if your in a hurry this might not be the place, if you want to have a romantic dinner and long conversation, you have found the right place. Also make sure you make reservations because it is a small restaurant.
The assistant server came and brought water right away. Our main server took for ever. Even though the place was fairly empty. He did apologize several times for the long wait. It was nice of him to acknowledge and apologize. After ordering appetizer and champagne, our server brought out the complementary bread: one with rosemary and the other with a blend of different seeds including pumpkin and sesame seeds.
The first appetizer was the Tuna Tartar. The tuna was very fresh, it did not have any overpowering seasoning which made the taste standout much more. The presentation was very pretty and very detailed. Also had the a watermelon with caviar, covered in sesame seeds. I think the black sesame was too bitter and the after taste was bitter, it would have been better without it.
For entree I had the grilled snapper. Again the presentation was very detailed and creative. The fish was on top of a creamy carrot puree and a sweet plantain mofongo. It was amazing the fish was fresh and the sweet plantains complemented the dish perfectly a combination of sweet and salty. I had never had mofongo from sweet plantain but I think it just became a favorite for me.
The other entree was the beef tenderloin. It was very tasty with mushrooms. The meat was cooked to perfection medium well, and it had blue cheese which was a perfect combination to bring out the taste of the meat.
For dessert has the bread pudding. It was made to order, had to wait a little to be able to eat it because it was very hot. It was solf, buttery and melted in your mouth, for added test dipping it in the caramel. It also included a strawberry and vanilla ice cream. It was very creamy and I could have had a huge bowl because it was heavenly.
